Hyundai Ioniq 9 Three-Row Electric SUV Launching Soon in Nepal

Almost a year ago, we wrote about how the Hyundai Ioniq 9 would make perfect sense for the Nepali market. At the time, Hyundai had already established a strong presence in Nepal’s EV space with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, while rival brands were beginning to introduce larger and more premium electric SUVs.

Now, in May 2026, that wait is finally coming to an end.

Hyundai is officially preparing to launch the Ioniq 9 in Nepal, with its debut expected in the first week of June 2026. The flagship electric SUV will become Hyundai’s largest and most premium EV offering in the country.

The Ioniq 5 has already proven that Hyundai can deliver a futuristic EV experience with strong range, premium features, and standout styling. Even years after its global debut, the Ioniq 5 continues to feel modern and distinctive on Nepali roads.

But the Ioniq 9 takes things several steps further — offering more space, more technology, and genuine three-row practicality aimed at larger families and premium SUV buyers.

Visually, the Ioniq 9 makes a bold impression. Measuring around 5,060mm in length and riding on a wheelbase of more than 3.1 metres, the SUV is enormous by Nepali standards. In fact, it is even longer than the Kia EV9, its closest sibling rival from Hyundai Motor Group.

Globally, the Ioniq 9 is powered by a massive 110.3kWh battery pack. The Long Range rear-wheel-drive variant produces 160kW and 350Nm of torque, while Hyundai claims a WLTP-estimated range of up to 620km on 19-inch wheels.

For Nepal, the expected configuration includes the Long Range RWD version paired with 20-inch alloy wheels. Despite its large size, the electric SUV promises smooth performance and refined highway cruising characteristics.

Hyundai’s E-GMP platform also enables ultra-fast charging capability. The Ioniq 9 can reportedly charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes under optimal conditions using a high-speed DC charger.

In addition to its impressive range, Hyundai has equipped the SUV with several advanced driving technologies, including AI-powered Auto Terrain Mode and Terrain Traction Control to improve confidence across varying road conditions.

Inside, the Ioniq 9 focuses heavily on comfort and space. The cabin features a clean and minimalist dashboard layout, highlighted by Hyundai’s Panoramic Curved Display setup, which combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen into a single integrated unit.

The SUV will arrive as a 3-row, 7-seater offering targeted at buyers looking for a premium family-focused electric SUV.

Other expected features for the Nepali market include a panoramic sunroof, advanced connected car technology, a premium audio system, 10 airbags, and Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite.

Alongside a full suite of ADAS functions, Hyundai has also added third-row seatbelt enhancements — a feature still missing in many premium SUVs currently available in the market.

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is expected to launch in Nepal during the first week of June 2026. Pricing is estimated to fall between NPR 1.90 crore and NPR 2 crore, placing it directly in the premium full-size electric SUV segment.

With Nepal’s premium EV market continuing to grow, the arrival of the Ioniq 9 feels timely. Buyers are increasingly looking beyond compact EVs and crossovers, and Hyundai now appears ready to offer a larger flagship electric SUV experience focused on luxury, practicality, and long-distance electric mobility.
